First dedicated U.S. eye color change clinic
KERATO® is the first clinic in the Western Hemisphere dedicated exclusively to safe, permanent eye color change. Founded in 2019 by Dr. Alexander Movshovich, MD, PhD, we specialize in medical keratopigmentation performed in our New York and Miami offices. We also offer advanced laser vision correction, including LASIK, PRK, and SMILE, performed under the same surgical standards.
KERATO® uses cosmetic keratopigmentation, a femtosecond laser-guided corneal procedure that permanently changes eye color without implants, iris damage, or intraocular surgery. The technique is designed to preserve ocular integrity while delivering natural-looking, customized results. Unlike iris implants, laser depigmentation, or eye tattooing, the KERATO® method places pigment within the cornea, keeping internal eye structures untouched and reducing unnecessary risk.
– Performed with advanced femtosecond laser technology – No pain — topical anesthetic eye drops only – No implants, no intraocular instruments – Patented instruments allow post-procedure color and intensity refinement – Designed for both subtle enhancements and noticeable transformations Every procedure is tailored to your anatomy, lifestyle, and aesthetic goals.
The Most Experienced Keratopigmentation Surgeon Worldwide. Keratopigmentation has been performed worldwide for over 17 years, but KERATO® set the clinical standard in the world. Dr. Movshovich is: – The only ophthalmologist performing keratopigmentation after LASIK and KLEx (SMILE) – The only surgeon able to adjust the limbal ring during the procedure – A Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology with 40+ years of surgical experience This depth of experience directly informs safety protocols, patient selection, and long-term outcomes.
PERMANENT. SAFE. RELIABLE. PAINLESS. IMMEDIATE.

IN THE NEWS

“People get their teeth done, they get implants and cosmetic treatments. If it’s something that could make you happier, make you look better— then why not?”

"KERATO is the first keratopigmentation practice in the U.S. that uses special lasers to insert pigments inside a healthy cornea to cover the eye’s natural color, which lies in the iris."

"The idea of keratopigmentation is to basically place the pigment inside of the cornea, which would hide, or shadow rather, the underlying color of the eye."

"It’s a safer option for those looking to permanently change their eye color because it doesn’t actually enter the eyeball or place any foreign body within it.."

"First, some numbing drops; then, the laser, and finally injecting the ink. After 40 minutes, it was all done. Very, very good. No pain—and everything was amazing!

"When Titus looks in the mirror and sees that his once-dark eyes are now blue-gray, he says, he’s grateful that he had the surgery. ‘Now, with my new color, I just look like myself.’"
We believe our eyes are a true reflection of who we are. Sometimes, we simply need a little help to share that reflection with the world.
